It seems like the recent rain has done the trick. I spent the last 2 hours of Friday evening downstream of Blandswath Bridge. The river was at a more respectable level than it had been for a while. There were plenty of BWO spinners around but there was not too much sign of fish taking advantage. However, persistence paid off and the size 16 Paradun finally tricked two of the finest fish I've caught this season (although not the biggest).
First to fall was 16 inches of trout from the pool at the foot of the Belah. As solid as you could want, it gave a good account of itself before finaly being netted and promptly returned to fight another day.
Number 2 came from the tail of the pool above Rudd Hills. Although considerably smaller at 10 inches, this one also gave a good scrap and was returned.
A good end to the week.
