Spent early June in northern Scotland catching some good wild trout. Returned to find the river low and the water temperature high. Fished late evening but no fish showing, massive midge and sedge numbers and lots of iron blues but the fish were very reluctant.
Thunder storms around 9th/10th coloured the water very quickly but did nothing to clean the river or arouse the fish. Another storm on 16th/17th. I fished the coloured water the following day and took two fish (wild) on dry. Fished late on 19th from Musgrave upstream and right up the Belah. Took 11 fish to one and half pounds (8 Eden 3 Belah) 7 wild, all on a deer hair sedge (14). Perfect water, sedges everywhere and fish crashing at them in the dark.
Another couple of good storms should see the river come to life again.
