Tales
of Fish
Contributed by Troutfly (12.04.2005)
On my first outing of the season I fished the Eden above Musgrave
Bridge. The weather was colder than forecast but the day was bright
and certainly comfortable. The river was in beautiful shape. After
15 minutes of searching the river with an upstream nymph I reverted
to dry fly to add greater interest to my outing. Thirty minutes
later a sprightly 1/4 lb trout devoured my Black Gnat. I had come
for an hour's fishing and I left it at that. Despite plenty of Olives
floating gently down the river I never saw a fish move other than
the one I caught.
A fellow angler provided interesting crack with tales of a 4lb
fish being taken a day or two earlier, plus short visits producing
up to 8 fish for a colleague of his.
On the way home I couldn't resist a further half hour on the Belah
above the bridge at Brough Sowerby. I didn't connect with anything
but enjoyed a pleasant half hour on a delightful stream!
