Early
June
Contributed by Brian Kirkwood (13.06.2003)
I did not fish the last week of May or the first week of June. Did
anyone see any Mayfly? I saw several on the 6th June but none after
that. I fished between 6pm and 9.30pm from Musgrave bridge to Blandwath.
I took 14 fish, 9 of which were wild, around the 8oz to 12oz mark.
The remainder were one and a half pound stock fish which are still
shoaled up in two hot spots. They all took an Adams 16's dry.
As I left the river, which was down to summer levels, there were a
lot of sedges coming off the banks so the next evening I started fishing
at 9.30pm and stopped at 11.30pm when it went cold. I had 8 fish (all
wild). I did not fish the hot spots. All were caught on a deer hair
sedge (dry). One fish was over 3lb, a female in excellent condition.
All were returned. |
