Late
May
Contributed by Brian Kirkwood (29.05.2003)
The last couple of weeks in May saw a big variation in water levels
changing from a big coloured flood to near perfect conditions....good
height and very clear water. Eight sessions in these weeks produced
over 20 fish almost all on a size 14 dry Adams (not the same one of
course as I had to get the vice out). The best fish was just over
2lb and all were returned but 3 which made an excellent meal for a
friend in warcop.
A n interesting 3 hours were spent on the Belah where I caught quite
a few free-rising wild fish about the 1/2lb mark from the Eden up
to the Brough road.
Excellent fishing on may 26th - there were several mayfly on the wing
at Warcop bridge and I have also observed two large hatches of iron
blue and some pale wateries on two different days. All we need now
is some warm muggy nights and we can get the bustard flies out. |
